Summary
- Instrument audio is processed on your Mac for amp modeling, effects, tuning, and recording.
- Recordings, NAM profiles, cabinet IRs, and presets stay in your library on this computer (and the shared app-group container used by the Audio Unit).
- Cawing NAM does not run ads, does not sell personal information, and does not use tracking (including the advertising identifier).
- TONE3000 is an optional third-party catalog. If you sign in, TONE3000 receives the account and catalog data needed to browse and download models.
Information we do not collect
We do not operate a Cawing NAM backend that receives microphone or instrument audio, Ideas recordings, the contents of your .nam files or cabinet IRs, or your name, email, or payment details for the app itself (purchases go through Apple).
Apple may collect standard App Store, TestFlight, and crash information under Apple's privacy policy.
Information processed on your Mac
- Microphone / audio-interface input — real-time amp modeling, tuner, and meters.
- Ideas recordings — dry/wet scratchpad capture and playback, stored locally.
- Imported
.namprofiles and IR files — loading models and cabinets. - Presets, groups, and slot assignments — remembering your setup.
- TONE3000 session file (key, tokens, display name) — staying signed in on this Mac.
macOS will ask for microphone access. You can change this later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
TONE3000 (optional)
If you paste a TONE3000 publishable key and sign in:
- Cawing NAM sends HTTPS requests to
www.tone3000.comfor OAuth, your profile, catalog search, favorites, and model downloads. - That typically includes a user ID / username, search terms, and catalog interaction (feeds you open, models you download).
- Downloaded
.namfiles are stored in your local library.
TONE3000 is operated by a third party. Their handling of your account is governed by their privacy policy and terms. You can sign out in the TONE3000 panel; that clears the local session we stored.
Tracking
Cawing NAM does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use the advertising identifier.
Sharing
We do not sell your information. The only third party the app talks to for optional features is TONE3000, plus Apple for distribution. If you export recordings or drag files out of the app, you choose where they go.
Retention
Local library files remain until you delete them or remove the app (and its container). Signing out of TONE3000 removes the local session we stored, not your TONE3000 website account.
Children
Cawing NAM is a music tool. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above and the in-app copy in Help → Privacy Policy.
